Speedychatz.Standing Up In Life

A Press Release from Speedychatz. Social Networking Malaysia.

After being highlighted over an online verbal communication as to "promote" our "brand", We feel that there is a need to express our genuine possibilities of this so called "promotion".

A promotion is a tactic induced to increase sales of commodities/products or services. The idea of promotions is to push people to buy a particular item or service for the profiteering of the so called "brand" .

An introduction to Speedychatz. Social Networking Malaysia
Speedychatz began as a project to unite the city of Ipoh. The main concern of the city was that people genuinely were lonely and had very small circles. How do we increase that? By building a platform that would allow anyone to discuss/chat. A platform where when you go up to a person, It's ok to introduce your name and talk about yourself. A Platform that would encourage people to build relationships rather than to stay at home and watch TV. A platform that builds excitement in every persons life.

As we conduct the networking event, we decided to take it one step further into a continuity to build relationships outside of the sponsored venue. What we do is that after a series of games, we give out tickets to parties, concerts, orchestral, movie or any form of events/workshops. So as a gathering of 10 - 12 people or more, they would be able to go out and have a good time.

That is our """Promotion""". We promote the Idea that Everyone can have a good time. This is not like one of the 20 websites from across the internet who "promoted" their business by giving out tickets to all those who buy 5 jugs of beers or more. We bought tickets for Community Building. We expect nothing from anyone.

There is no money in Speedychatz.
We are purely a relationship project aiming to unite the country and all its states. An individual sponsored us these tickets for prizes. As we only had given out 4 tickets at our last group party, we had a spare of 4 tickets left. However we had no need to sell the tickets for money, so we decided to give it out to anyone who was Creative/Crazy enough to want them. It was fun. Again, you don't have to buy any beers or jugs of alcohol to be able to have these passes

We give them to you if you are Creative because,
  1. We have 4 extra party zone tickets
  2. We didn't know what to do with them tickets.
  3. We LOVE Crazy People.

Why not just give them away?
Therefore here's what we’d like to say.
To be promotional, we
1) need to be a business
2) need to have an ulterior motive
3) need to make money from this venture.

We have applied nothing of that sort to our venture. This is a Community Building Project for Everyone to go out and have a good time. And over time, as we move towards the End of the year, we'll expand out to all the states, and Everyone will be able to mix, mingle and enjoy Malaysia for what it holds and truly is.

Why? Cause that's what life is all about! Living, Connecting and Experiencing everything our world has to offer before Death tears us apart. The Contest to search for Creatives will continue. And as planned, we shall announce its winners tomorrow at 12pm, 17th January 2013. Winners will be contacted in their inbox.

Speedychatz. Moving & Shaking.

Speedychatz has been undergoing plans to push itself out of Ipoh and go throughout Malaysia. As of now we are trying to manage ourselves in Kuala Lumpur, Malacca, Johor and Ipoh. So far, - it's been very interesting to see how we work.

Can something so simple be automated every month for the greater good of the cities and its people?
What we're trying to build is something like this.

To something like this.

Wouldn't that be pretty awesome? Imagine an entire country talking about themselves. HAHAHA. Would it be interesting?  Wouldn't know. But it's definitely worth a Shot and talking to each Other.
It's heathy. But we do wonder how people would feel about this. It is afterall, very very Quaint.

Speedychatz #1. SocialNetworking Ipoh

Number 10 with a Drink.
The First SpeedyChatz session took place on the 7th of December in a little town called Ipoh at one of the best Cocktail Bars, BARBEZA . The night saw 10 individuals from different backgrounds get together to laugh play and get to know who of the who of the who is doing what of the what of the what.
It was an interesting mix to know that a photographer from Austria is here and travelling the world. He stayed at the Indigenous Village up in Cameron Highlands. It was to be a 2 week stay, but he got caught hold and is now doing Photography for Pangkor Island. He and a team of people are compiling it soon.
It was also interesting to know that a Fresh Graduate back from the University of Monash in Australia is back home and mingling. From connections at Speedychatz, she got a job to build her profile at the Local Community Newspaper here.

Mohamed Faried from Egypt at the Universiti Teknologi Petronas never got a real chance to mix with locals was sharing about his Home Egypt with people here. 60++ year old Uncles were asking questions about Egypt and whether Christians there were suppressed by Muslims. They're from the Amnesty International Ipoh Local Group. And have a keen interest in human rights.

Meet Mohamed Faried (Muslim) with his good friend Beshoy (Christian) . Both from Egypt. Faried explains that all of that is just a small group of people that the media makes it sound like a big deal.

The night was very intriguing.
Everyone had a good time meeting all the new groups of people. People felt Alive and Refreshed from talking to new faces. Mixer #2 is going to be even more interesting. We look forward to more people. :)
